[Patients' Rights]
Right to Receive Medical Care
Patients have the right to receive appropriate health care services to protect their health, and their health-related rights shall not be infringed on the grounds of gender, age, religion, social status, economic circumstances, or any other reason. Medical personnel may not refuse treatment without a justifiable reason.
Right to Be Informed and Right to Self-Determination
Patients have the right to receive a sufficient explanation from their attending dentist, nurse, and other medical staff regarding their medical condition, treatment methods, basic medical knowledge, and costs, to ask detailed questions about them, and to decide whether or not to give consent.
Right to Confidentiality
Patients have the right not to have their physical, health-related, and private information related to their treatment infringed upon. Medical personnel and medical institutions shall not disclose or publish such information without the patient's consent, except as provided by law, such as in criminal investigations.
Right to Request Counseling and Mediation
In the event of a dispute related to medical services, patients have the right to request counseling and mediation from the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency or other relevant organizations.
[Patients' Responsibilities]
Responsibility to Trust and Respect Medical Personnel
Patients shall accurately inform medical personnel of their health-related information, and shall trust and respect the treatment plans of medical personnel.
Responsibility Not to Receive Treatment by Fraudulent Means
Patients shall verify their identity before receiving treatment and shall not receive treatment by false or fraudulent means, such as receiving treatment under another person's name.
