Used instruments are collected immediately and separated according to their purpose, including instruments used for patients requiring infection-control precautions, surgical instruments, and orthodontic instruments.

Single-use instruments are safely discarded in designated medical waste containers.

Sealed medical waste is collected and handled by a licensed medical waste disposal service.

Separated instruments are thoroughly scrubbed to physically remove visible debris and contaminants.

Approved chemical disinfectants are used to remove residual contaminants that may not be visible to the naked eye.

Fine instruments, including dental burs, undergo ultrasonic cleaning to remove contaminants from hard-to-reach surfaces.

After cleaning and disinfection, instruments are thoroughly dried using specialized drying equipment.

Once fully dried, instruments are securely sealed in sterilization pouches to protect them from recontamination.

Packaged instruments are sterilized in an autoclave using high-temperature, high-pressure steam for the required sterilization cycle.

Orthodontic instruments undergo dedicated sterilization procedures using appropriate sterilization equipment.

All patient-contact surfaces of the dental chair, including the rinsing area and cuspidor, are thoroughly disinfected between patients.

Sterilized instruments remain sealed in their individual packages and are opened in front of the patient immediately before treatment.
