  • Treatment duration and the additional appliances required can vary depending on the complexity of each case. For example, when the upper dental arch is narrow, brackets alone may primarily change the inclination of the teeth and, in some cases, increase the risk of unwanted gum recession. In such cases, an additional appliance such as MARPE may be recommended to achieve skeletal expansion and support more controlled bodily tooth movement.

• How long does malocclusion treatment take?

  • Treatment time varies from case to case. Orthodontic treatment for malocclusion may take approximately 18 months in some cases and 36 months or longer in more complex cases.

• Why does treatment time vary between patients?

  • The rate of tooth movement can vary considerably from person to person. Treatment difficulty and duration also depend on the direction and amount of tooth movement required.
