Non-surgical orthodontic correction of asymmetry requires an accurate diagnosis and careful treatment planning. Depending on the type and severity of the asymmetry, treatment may involve orthodontics alone or orthodontics combined with orthognathic surgery. During your consultation, we clearly explain the advantages and limitations of both approaches so you can make an informed decision.

A detailed frontal cephalometric analysis helps determine whether the asymmetry is primarily dental or skeletal. When a significant skeletal discrepancy is present, orthodontic treatment combined with orthognathic surgery may need to be considered to achieve a more favorable functional and aesthetic outcome.

In suitable cases, expansion of a narrow dental arch can create additional space for controlled tooth movement and help improve asymmetry between the dental arches.

Orthodontic miniscrews provide stable skeletal anchorage, allowing precise and asymmetric tooth movement when different amounts or directions of movement are required on each side.

TMJ Stabilization Appliance
When an unstable jaw-joint position contributes to functional mandibular asymmetry, a stabilization appliance may be used to help establish a stable centric relation (CR) and determine the appropriate jaw position before or during orthodontic treatment.
