What Is an Open Bite?
When the back teeth are fully together, the upper front teeth normally overlap the lower front teeth by approximately 1–2 mm. This vertical overlap is called the overbite. An open bite is a type of malocclusion in which the front teeth do not meet when the back teeth are together.

TMJ Stabilization Appliance
We first identify the underlying cause of the open bite. When degenerative changes in the temporomandibular joint contribute to the condition, a TMJ stabilization appliance may be incorporated into treatment to help establish a more stable jaw position and reduce the risk of the open bite worsening or recurring.

Interarch Elastics
Interarch elastics may be used to help correct the vertical discrepancy between the upper and lower teeth and improve the efficiency of open bite treatment.
